June 18th, 2001 The Scoop on Girls By Crackle All right…so here’s the scoop. Guys don’t understand girls. No big news, right? It’s been known as a mystery for all of mankind—-what girls are thinking? They have no clue. They try to guess and think and guess and think and then they end up...

A Social Experiment: Day Six
So far, my revamped profile has garnered 2 winks, 1 favorite and 28 unique views.  I have sent one email with no response. I am going to give it another week or so to see how it performs.  Then, I will revamp it again, only this time, I plan on changing the tone to be “butterflies and rainbows,” essentially the exact opposite of me.  We’ll compare stats and see if that makes a...

A Social Experiment
I am tired of losers, misfits….and waiters… reaching out to me on Match, therefore, I figure I gotta be more truthful.  So, I am conducting a social experiment of some sorts.  I updated my profile; let’s see how people respond to the below: I am going to do something different on here. I am going to tell the truth about myself and about what I am really looking for. ...

Blast from the Past
Dear mili13, While I am flattered that you showed interest in me, I feel I should express to you why I will not be reciprocating with my interest.  1. You are short.  Must be at least 5’10 to ride this ride.  2. You have no direction in life and I am obviously more successful than you which would make for awkward conversations. 3. You attended “some college” which means you...

Why can I not find any pencils in my apartment? I have thousands of pens, but not one pencil. In all 1300 square feet, I can’t get my hands on a number 2. I don’t want to live in a life where I do not have a pencil in the house. I am going to Office Max tomorrow and buying me a jumbo pack.

We, uh, met on Match...
No one wants to admit that they use dating sites.  More importantly, no one wants to admit that they met the person they are dating on a dating site.  With all the strides in the technical and social media space, a stigma remains regarding online dating.  No matter what, you want to have some sort of real-life or physical connection with someone before you agree to go on a date with them. ...

Just say no to pleated shorts
Guys, they aren’t a good look on you. And the tucked in polo shirt, brown belt and matching loafers ain’t working either. Learn it, live it, love it.

Moving Walkways Are Not a Ride
I get that people don’t walk on escalators because that involves climbing stairs, but a moving walkway, that’s fair game.  Just because it moves doesn’t mean you should just stand there and let it carry you to your destination.  It’s just a way to get you there quicker when you walk at your normal pace.  I mean, do you really have to stand in the middle of the walkway?  Are...

Don't Cry For Me Argentina
I have never watched nor been fond of The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise on ABC.  I think it’s something about watching everyday people looking to find love that just doesn’t appeal to me.  I mean, give me Flavor Flav or Bret Michaels on VH1 any day.  A show about Joe/Jill Good-Lookings trying to jump start their music/modeling/acting/hosting career by masking it in a quest for true...

Daniel: I leave you endless amounts of Gummy Bears, Oreos, Nacho Cheese and the notion that it is perfectly acceptable to eat a pint of ice cream as your lunch.  You are owed that privilege as you are a man about town now on the [somewhat] Westside. Stan: I leave you Kristen Stewart…..[awkward pause]….. because she is, um, mysterious.  Vanessa: I leave my sincere gratitude for sharing with me...

Back in Texas - About Time
Just moved back to Austin from spending almost 3.5 years in LA.   Things I will miss in LA:  The good people I have met, Trader Joes, consistently nice weather, being by the beach, celebrity sightings, Pinkberry, authentically good sushi, VIP Staple Center tickets, etc. Things I gain by being back in Austin:  Old friends, Central Market, great air quality, being by the Hike & Bike trail on...

It's Like I am in 7th Grade Again
Instant Messaging (IM) became popular when I was in 6th grade.  I tested them all - MSN, Yahoo - but AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) was king.  Before the age of texting, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, iPhones, AIM was how you communicated and discovered what your friends were doing.  If you wanted to talk with friends without actually having to talk with them, you used AIM.  And you used it a lot -...

Personal Procrastination
I need to clean my room.  I need to do laundry.  I need to clean my car.  I need to change the tires on my car.  I need to make important phone calls.  I need to sell some furniture.  I need to do research.  I need to clean my bathroom.  I need to collect boxes. I need to do a fair amount of personal tasks.  Have I started?  Yes and no.  If I have started anything on my to-do list, I have only...

Mommy, I Wanna Be That Girl When I Grow Up
You know the type.  The one that always looks put together.  The one with perfectly styled hair.  The one that always has a matching purse to her shoes.  The one that wears heels all day without complaint.  She is the one you want to hate, but just can’t because you are in awe of her style.  She makes it all look so effortless.  She makes you believe that you could be that girl. ...

In case you were wondering...
Yes.  I did get Vegas Brave.  However, I forgot that it takes a bit of time to get back to normal.  What’s the aftermath of getting Vegas Brave, you ask?   Being Vegas Tired. You move a little slower.   Your immune system is weaker.   Your hair feels dried out from the lethal combination of zero desert moisture & massive amounts of heat straightening tools.   Your back and legs ache...

There is Brave...And "Vegas Brave"
There is undeniably something about Vegas that makes you braver than your everyday life.  Is it the air?  Is it the people?  Maybe it’s because you are on vacation.  Or perhaps, it’s knowing, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”   For whatever reason, you come out of your shell.  You don’t let anything hold you back.  Your sense of “Normal” becomes...
