Mommy, I Wanna Be That Girl When I Grow Up

You know the type.  The one that always looks put together.  The one with perfectly styled hair.  The one that always has a matching purse to her shoes.  The one that wears heels all day without complaint.  She is the one you want to hate, but just can’t because you are in awe of her style.  She makes it all look so effortless.  She makes you believe that you could be that girl.

…Until you realize that the “effortless” look actually takes hours to complete.

That’s why my hair will always be disheveled (it’s the curse of having naturally curly hair).  I do not have the time to straighten everyday nor do I want to completely fry my hair in the process.  That’s why my purse stays the same for months - it’s always stuffed to the brim with things “I might need;” I would not want to risk leaving anything behind having to switch every day.  That’s why I wear flats most days. I would love to wear heels more than once a week, but by 4 pm I want to pry them off my swollen feet and walk barefoot.

While I know I will never be “That Girl,” I can say I can get ready in 10 minutes.   I just toss on a jean skirt, black leggings, white t-shirt, some flats and my favorite brown hat, grab my go-to purse at the moment and BOOM…I’m ready to go.

Now, that’s effortless.
